The word chilcuague comes from Nahuatl because this plant was recognized as Chilcoatl (chil for spicy and coatl for the shape of its root that looks like a snake). Known as the all purpose natural remedy.
Known as raiz de oro, or root of gold, this plant carries many powerful healing properties. It’s use dates back to the pre hispanic indigenous cultures of central Mexico. It comes to us from the Sierra Gorda in Guanajuato, Mexico.

HOW TO USE:
1. External use:
– Skin (Wounds/Rashes/Burns/Bug Bites): Boil and make it into a decoction and use it on skin 1 - 3 times per day to treat wounds and burns and to reduce inflammation.
– Yeast Infections: Boil, making it a decoction, let it cool down, and apply on affected area twice a day.
Internal use:
The use of Chilcuague is used on the tongue to relieve pain in the teeth and throat. It has antibiotic properties (so it is traditionally used against throat infection, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis, esophagitis, gingivitis and other infections even on the skin), it is also recognized as a powerful anti-fungal (traditionally used against athlete’s foot, onychomycosis, dandruff and candidiasis or milkweed), is analgesic, antiseptic, anesthetic
Respiratory System: (Bronchitis, Laryngitis, respiratory infections, common cough): Chew a tiny root piece for as long as you can for 7 days, or until the problem gets better. It will get a lot of mucus out of your body.
Digestive System: Elimination of intestinal parasites, equilibrate pH and alleviate candida: For parasites chew a tiny piece of the root every morning for 7 days, preferably on an empty stomach. To balance pH and relieve heartburn do the same by chewing a tiny piece.
Mouth: Gingivitis, tooth pain, cold sores: Chew a tiny piece of the root every morning for 7 days, preferably on an empty stomach.
It has a sialogogous effect or that stimulates the production of saliva which generates several effects in the organism, among them those produced by the digestive enzymes present in saliva (amylase and lipase), its buffering or buffering effect that supports neutralizing the pH of the stomach and oral cavity instantaneously controlling reflux, acidity and gastritis, saliva also promotes the secretion of endorphins.
